Venting Radiators

If the radiators are no longer (or only partially) warming up, it could be due to air in the system. To prevent damage to the heating system, it is important to bleed the radiators. For this, you will need a bleed key and a tea towel. This key is available from Gruno Rentals. How to bleed the radiators is explained by Energiewacht in this video.

Not sure how to bleed a radiator? Follow these instructions:

  1. Turn on all radiators and the central heating for 15 minutes;
  2. After 15 minutes, turn off the heating system and close all radiators;
  3. Start with the lowest radiator in the house (make sure the heating is off) and open the vent with the bleed key. Do this carefully and use a tea towel;
  4. When water starts to flow, you can close the vent again;
  5. Repeat this for all radiators in the house (from bottom to top).

After bleeding, check if the boiler pressure gauge is still between 1 and 2 bar. If the pressure is too low, you need to refill the boiler.
